Understanding Combustion   

Complete combustion (converting hydrocarbons into CO2 and H2O) is almost impossible to achieve under practical conditions because temperature and oxygen levels are never ideal. Instead, incomplete, and even near-complete, combustion leaves (toxic) unburnt products such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen, sulfur oxides, and even carbon (soot or ash). Further, the oxygen source for combustion is atmospheric air, which contains 78% nitrogen. Although nitrogen does not take part in the combustion, small amounts of several nitrogen oxides, commonly referred to as NOx (mostly monoxide), are created if temperature is high enough.

Since engine combustion is incomplete and rarely clean, catalytic converters like platinum or serium oxide (also called ceria) are often used.

Four factors make Purify the ideal fuel additive.

(1) Increased fuel efficiency

Purify increases fuel efficiency by converting unburnt components (carbon and carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide; sulfur/sulfur oxide to suffer dioxide; hydrogen to water), thus yielding a higher thermal value (BTU) of the fuel (i.e. taking less fuel to produce the same power/work). As a result, the engine’s computer notices the engine running “rich” and reduces the amount of fuel injected at each stroke.

These factors can be verified in fuel tests as well as by analyzing emission with combustion analyzers.

The addition of ceria to Purify further enhances the efficient combustion. Ceria has proven effective in completing the oxidation of NOx, facilitated by ceria’s ability to release oxygen without decomposing.

A third factor is important, too: Besides lubricating the cylinders (see below), Purify seals the cylinder wall, piston, and valve surfaces so that the small amounts of unburnt fuels that typically escape from the combustion chamber is prevented.

(2) Protecting the engine

The U.S. standard for diesel fuel says a commercially available diesel fuel should produce a wear scar of no greater than 520 microns. The Engine Manufacturers Association had requested a standard of a wear scar no greater than 460 microns, typical of the pre-ULSD fuels. Most experts agree that a 520 micron standard is adequate, but also that the lower the wear scar the better.
Purify Fuel ETF-2 has a High Frequency Reciprocating Rig (HFRR) of 221 that is a 415 micron improvement. Tested at a 1oz to 20 gallon ratio. 1 gallon to 2060 gallons of diesel or gasoline.

(3) Reducing toxic emission

As explained above, by facilitating a near-complete combustion, Purify reduces the toxic components in the exhaust from the engine.

(4) Stabilizing the fuel
